Great Brak River has aptly been described as “one of the most underrated birding spots in South Africa”. This is owed to the diversity of bird habitats including forest, fynbos, grassland, towns and gardens, coastal shrubland, sandy beaches, rocky shores, the river and the estuary with its tidal salt marshes. For more information, visit Great Brakriver Birding or Great Brak River Conservancy on Facebook. A bird checklist is also available. The photographs below were supplied by Mike Bands, and were taken by his grandson, Evan Bands (11).
