My sister and I decided to take advantage of the special winter discounts for locals at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve at Gonnakraal and booked ourselves on a game drive.
It was a chilly afternoon but we were warmly dressed and didn’t need the blankets offered to us by our thoughtful game ranger, Silas. We set off on a two and a half hour quiet cruise through parts of the reserve with a well informed and thoroughly likeable guide.
The views from the tops of hills out to sea, or inland to the mountains were beautiful. Many areas are covered with fynbos and are lovely. We saw all the animals we could have wanted to see but were equally interested in the birds, lizards and beetles Silas pointed out or identified for us.
An afternoon well spent and right on our doorstep!
