Great Brak River Ratepayers Association (GBRRPA) was started by a small group of ratepayers who were interested in our fabulous village, described by Mossel Bay Tourism as “… a place one can only describe as paradise”. The motto of GBRRPA is “Let’s all strive to “keep Great Brak River great”. To this end the Association interacts with our Municipality with regard to municipal services, relevant legislation, environmental matters, safety and security, fostering community spirit and interaction with various other forums, particularly with the business and conservancy forums.
GBRRPA wants to cultivate a proactive attitude amongst residents and long-term tenants in order to look after and protect the community. The Association will deal with important matters by engaging the relevant role players to resolve issues on behalf of the ratepayers.
Regular and continual consultation will be made with the councillors, other ratepayer associations and neighbourhood watch groups in the area.
Every effort is made to ensure visitors and holidaymakers have a pleasant experience in our village. We support our local lifesavers during the holiday season by providing them with an observation high chair and transport to and from our beach.
GBRRPA has ongoing discussions with the Municipality with regard to littering and the provision of more litter bins, regularising the jobseekers who congregate on the corner of Sandhoogte and Long Streets, the control of heavy transport moving through our village and “Welcome to Great Brak Village” signage. As a result of ratepayer interactions with us, we recently submitted a large number of objections to the three proposed commercial advertising boards in our village.
Our Association will always strive to keep Great Brak River great!
