GREAT BRAK RIVER YOUTH CAFÉ – BUSY ON ALL FRONTS!

During the latter part of June the team at the Youth Café and Wonderful SA put our heads together with various community stakeholders to facilitate a Youth Holiday Program at the Great Brak River Secondary School.

Partnering with Child Welfare, Safe Schools and local churches, we had no small amounts of fun in the unusually warm winter sun, with activities that included life skills, traditional and indigenous games, team building, and plenty of sports and competitions.

We also utilized our recording studio, despite the best efforts of load shedding to thwart us, to get together six young people from our community to write, record, film and edit their own song, which can be viewed on our YouTube channel.

July also saw us open up applications for our internship at the Youth Café program. All applicants participate in a CV writing, Job Readiness and Team Building course before going through our interview process. These interns then spend 12 months with us, during which time we have the incredible opportunity to journey with them through life’s challenges and equip them with some valuable knowledge, skills and memories.

We once again send out an open invitation for all members of our community to pop in to our amazing facility, lend a hand or volunteer on a project you might be passionate about, or come join in our fun!
