Iridology is the science of studying and analysing the reflex signs in the iris corresponding to conditions (pathology) within the body. The iris shows changes that are occurring in the body and reveals abnormal tissue conditions. By examining the colours, components of the iris, pupil and sclera one can use this information to demonstrate a patient’s susceptibility towards certain illnesses, reflect past medical problems, and predict future health risks. The iris is the living image of what the eye has been, what it is, and even what it can become. The iris is like a chalkboard which does not get erased.
Iridology became internationally accepted in 1952 through the work of Dr. Bernard Jensen, an American physician who was considered to be the leading authority on Iridology in the world during his lifetime (1908-2001). Dr. Bernard Jensen, put it this way:
“Nerve fibres in the iris respond to changes in body tissues by manifesting a reflex physiology that corresponds to specific tissue changes and locations.”
This means that a bodily condition will translate to a noticeable change in the appearance of the iris. The beauty of Iridology is that it helps the doctor to pinpoint the foundation or cause to a problem or identify the contributing pathways to a particular symptom or collection of symptoms enabling the problem to be treated, balanced or supported. Please note that it is not a complete “medical diagnosis”, laboratory tests and a physical examination may be required as well.
The practice of Iridology takes many years to perfect and should only be done by a naturopath, homeopath or medical doctor as one needs a good knowledge of medicine, anatomy &physiology and pathology, in order to treat and advise patients who present with any type of condition or illness. Please be careful of anyone claiming to do iridology if they are not registered doctors with the Health/Allied Health Professions Council of S.A. and do not have practice a number. There are many people out there with no medical qualifications doing iridology. Only a doctor may diagnose and treat a patient. www.doctorscott.co.za
