What’s new at the Klipheuwel Trail Park

The Trail Park at Klein Brakrivier is constantly evolving. With recent rains and the ongoing road works which caused the flooding of almost a kilometer of cross country track in the low laying area to new trails that are being permanently marked in the area, something new and different can constantly be found by riders and runners alike.
New lines had to be developed on the cross country track to make up for the flooded trails which are currently being enjoyed by the ducks and the fish. A 30km loop comprising of farm roads and tracks along with short sections of district roads is currently being marked permanently for riders who want to enjoy a longer route with some challenging climbs and exhilarating down hills.

The Trail Park has been a hive of activity over the past couple of months with the 1st Spur School MTB League event that attracted over 200 riders from Southern Cape schools as well a recent inter-school event between George South Primary and Durbanville Primary. We are also moving into a more permanent structure (out of the well known green container) which would allow us space for a small bike shop with some parts and spares to go with the workshop to cater for cyclists’ and runners’ needs.

The Trail Park and bike shop will soon be open 7 days a week from 08h00 till 17h00 with only the Pump Track closing when it is too wet. An easy 5km loop running through the surrounding farm land to the river and back is open for cyclists, runners and dogs (leashed).
Upcoming events:
• 7 October 2018 at 14h00 – 1hour Madness MTB race
• 24 November 2018 at 19h00 – Night Run
