Discover the Healing Power of Reiki
When you’re seeking balance, relaxation, and inner peace, one of the complementary therapies to experience is Reiki. It is an ancient Japanese healing art that channels universal energy to nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, meaning “universal life energy,” was developed by Mikao Usui in the 1920s. This gentle, non-invasive technique involves transferring energy through gentle hand placements over or on the body.
Reiki has through the years gained recognition in hospitals and healthcare systems, cancer treatment facilities, mental health services and palliative care.
The science behind Reiki is clear. Various studies demonstrates Reiki’s efficacy in:
- Reduced stress and anxiety (Shore, 2004)
- Improved pain management (Olson & Hanson, 2017)
- Enhanced quality of life (Lee et al., 2018)
Benefits of Reiki:
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Promotes deep relaxation and sleep
- Relieves pain and inflammation
- Enhances emotional balance and well-being
- Supports spiritual growth and self-awareness
How Does Reiki Work?
During a Reiki session, the guest will lie comfortably on a table, fully clothed. The practitioner will place their hands gently on or above specific positions of the body. Universal energy flows through the practitioner’s hands, balancing energies and the guest may experience feelings of warmth, tingling, or relaxation and realisations or ideas might form during the session.
Types of Reiki
Usui Reiki: Traditional Reiki developed by Mikao Usui.
Kundalini Reiki: Focuses on energy release and spiritual growth.
Karuna Reiki: Emphasises compassion and emotional healing.
How to experience Reiki
When you have secured a session with a certified Reiki practitioner, arrive relaxed and open-minded for your first session. Share your intentions and concerns openly and honestly with your chosen practitioner. The most important thing to remember is to allow yourself to receive.
Reiki offers a safe, effective, and complementary approach to traditional healthcare. By harnessing universal life energy, Reiki promotes holistic well-being, empowering individuals to take charge of their physical, mental and emotional health.
Even though regular Reiki sessions can alleviate stress, anxiety, and emotional blockages, fostering a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and connection, it is important to keep in mind that Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatment and simply complements, conventional medicine.
