Community Garden, Holiday Program and Job Placements
Even though it was winter, we capitalised on the warmer weather to host our quarterly school holiday program. As always, it was fun, with lots of laughter and plenty of games. Some valuable life skills were taught. It is a great opportunity to engage with the younger generation in our community through the holidays.
July also saw the Youth Café partner with a local farmer and a few eager men from the community, both old and young, to get our community vegetable garden up and running.
While it is in the early stages, initial participation and commitment is positive, and we hope to be able to share many success stories – and vegetables – from our garden. So watch this space!
Lastly, as our main aim at Wonderful SA is making transformation possible, with a particular focus on the youth, we want to take this moment to celebrate a few young people that have all came through our flagship internship program, and have found permanent employment:
We celebrate Simondre Swiegelaar, Sydney Volkwyn, Yolyn Fortuin and Divineo Pietersen, along with all those that have gone before them, for their commitment to invest in themselves over the last 12 months. We congratulate them on gaining permanent employment. Well done, and we look forward to sharing your journey in life!
As always, we invite each and every one to pop in to the Great Brak River Youth Café for a coffee and a chat, to see what we do, and join in on our fun, or support what we do!
