DIY BIRD FEEDER – A SIMPLE PROJECT FOR NATURE LOVERS

There’s something special about watching birds flutter around your garden — little splashes of colour, movement, and cheerful song. And the best part? Inviting them over is as easy as making them a snack!

Here’s a quick and easy DIY bird feeder idea that will not only keep the birds happy but also turn your backyard into a little nature haven.

You’ll Need:

  1. A pine cone (nature’s original bird feeder!)
  2. String or twine
  3. Peanut butter (smooth or crunchy — birds aren’t fussy)
  4. Birdseed
  5. A butter knife or spoon

Instructions:

  1. Tie the string securely around the top of your pine cone, leaving enough length to hang it from a branch later.
  2. Use your knife or spoon to spread peanut butter all over the pine cone — get right into the little spaces!
  3. Roll the peanut butter-covered cone in birdseed until it’s well coated.
  4. Find a quiet spot in your garden or on a balcony, and hang your bird feeder from a tree branch or hook.
  5. Then… wait. Watch. Smile.

Nature at Your Doorstep

Bird feeders do more than attract hungry birds — they create a tiny ecosystem right outside your window. You’ll start noticing regular visitors — maybe a shy little sparrow, a curious dove, or even the occasional cheeky squirrel trying its luck!

Children love watching the birds arrive and learning their names and habits. It’s a simple, screen-free way to reconnect with nature and appreciate the small wonders of the world around us.

Even in a small garden or on a balcony, these little acts of kindness remind us that nature will always show up — if we make space for it.
