EXCITING NEWS FROM THE YOUTH CAFÉ

,

After a busy Youth Month during June, July did not slow down for the team at Wonderful SA and the Youth Café.

With a school holiday comes a holiday program, and we had more than 400 kids attend our first week of holiday activities. Thankfully the weather played along, and much fun was had by all, partaking in sports activities, team-building games, life skills and a colour run.

We realised that if we can do a holiday program locally, we could also branch out to our more rural communities. And thus the show moved on to Friemersheim, for another very successful time, with plenty of fun. We love hosting these activities as it keeps the younger generation healthy and active during the holidays, and it gives us a chance to reach out and engage where we can. It is also fantastic to see what can be achieved when stakeholders in the community take hands.

While we bid farewell to the interns of the past 12 months we also welcomed the group to take forward for the next year. We were once again astonished by the incredible talent in Great Brak River and are very grateful that we get the opportunity to harness that talent to serve within our community.

And lastly a wonderful celebration for us during July was that one of our interns, Alanzo Whitebooi, has been accepted by the Francois Ferreira Academy to do a 3 year Advanced Diploma in Culinary Supervision and Management. We are extremely excited for Alanzo, a talented and passionate young man who has had a difficult journey so far. We look forward to celebrating every step of this road with him and supporting him along the way.

As always, we invite everyone to visit the Youth Café to see what we are up to, or just a nice cuppa and a chat.
